What it detects:
This test detects malaria antigens, which are proteins released by the Plasmodium parasites into the bloodstream. The presence of these antigens indicates an active malaria infection. It helps differentiate between malaria and other illnesses with similar symptoms, such as fever and chills.

Who should get it:
Individuals who have symptoms consistent with malaria (fever, chills, sweating, headache, fatigue, nausea, etc.), particularly those who have traveled to or live in malaria-endemic areas, should consider this test. It is also used for patients who have a history of exposure to mosquitoes or are at risk for malaria infection.

Sample required:
A blood sample (usually a finger prick) is required for this test.
