Overview:
The alkaline phosphatase (ALP) test measures the level of ALP in the blood. ALP is an enzyme found in the liver, bones, kidneys, and bile ducts, and it plays a role in breaking down proteins. Abnormal ALP levels can indicate liver disease, bone disorders, or bile duct obstructions.

What it detects:
