It can cause Flushing, swelling of the ankles, feet or lower legs, palpitations, headache, dizziness , gastrointestinal disturbances such as heartburn, nausea, epigastric pain or diarrhoea, fatigue or sleepiness.
Contraindicated in patients with moderate or severe liver disease and in patients with severe renal impairment
Special care should be exercised when treatment is commenced in patients with mild to moderate renal or hepatic dysfunction
Donot drive or use machinery because dizziness, asthenia, fatigue and rarely somnolence may occur.
Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while you're taking lercanidipine. It can make side effects worse.
It's best to take lercanidipine on an empty stomach. Fatty food can increase the amount of lercanidipine your body takes in and make you more likely to have side effects.
Please consult your doctor when taking this medicine if you are pregnant.
It can interact with Aminophylline or theophylline, the antifungal itraconazole, the antibiotic erythromycin, digoxin, the epilepsy medicines carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital (phenobarbitone) or primidone.
